Company of Heroes 3 is too conservative in terms of gameplay and fails to make its big new mode work as expected. Battles, from skirmishes to bespoke missions in the Italian campaign, are great fun and offer cool tactical puzzles to solve. The strategy map does add another dimension to the experience but patches are needed to realize its full potential.

Pretty graphics or no, so much of the gameplay of Company of Heroes 3 is flawed in one way or another that it's difficult to recommend it. From campaign-breaking bugs in Italy to the inept AI that renders most Africa maps unsatisfying, the game came out in such a state that it's hard to believe it's part of the same series by the same developer. To the development team's credit, the game has been patched several times since release, but many of the issues persist. There are occasional glimmers of a brilliant game, but with so much of the content damaged by bugs, it is impossible to recommend it over replaying one of the other games of the series.

Although it has its problems, it's a game that can be as addictive as CoH 2 once you get used to it. The single-player mode is a bit shaky, but the multiplayer is promising.

Despite notable slips, such as the technical and visual part, bad interface and unnecessary complexity, Company of Heroes 3 has merits for delivering a good RTS on consoles, being fun and for having a good adaptation to controls.

I do think that if developers want to tackle World War 2 as a subject, they need to go one of two paths. They could take a clinical approach and create a wargames simulator that focuses purely on the strategy. Or they could create a serious commentary that deconstructs and analyses the war. What they should not be doing, however, is presenting the war as a purely entertaining experience. As a work of pure entertainment, Company of Heroes 3 would have been better served tracking a fictional war. However, its quality as a piece of entertainment is undeniable, and for most, that’s going to be all that matters. It also works far better on a console than I would have expected something from the RTS genre to ever do. For those that do find World War 2 to be entertaining, this one’s going to be hard to resist.

If you like the idea of grand armies and large battle maps, but found Total War: Warhammer III not to your liking, then the less intimidating Company of Heroes 3 might be up your alley instead. Relic has really branched out with this one, and while Company of Heroes 3 takes some creative liberties in the World War II stories it tells, they have an energy and heart in place of historical accuracy. Relic adding tactical pausing to Company of Heroes 3 isn’t blasphemous, it’s brilliant; Relic adding a dynamic campaign is not foolish, it is fantastic. There’s so much to love here, Company of Heroes 3 never stops giving for those who wanted more, and is a total victory for the real-time strategy genre.

Company of Heroes 3 is a triumph, the worthy sequel to one of the most appreciated sagas of real-time strategists, as well as a great gift to the community. Disruptive gameplay, enriched for the occasion by many appreciated new features and improvements of sorts, blends together with a spectacle on the visual level, giving us back warlike confrontations as never seen before. In short, Relic has definitely hit the mark and raised the qualitative bar once again.

Company of Heroes 3 doesn't nail absolutely everything and sometimes gets in its own way, but there's no denying just how good it is when firing on all cylinders.

Huge variety, impressive visuals and an enhanced gameplay make Company of Heroes 3 a must-have for all RTS-enthusiasts. Some bugs and glitches aside, Company of Heroes 3 is as intense as an WWII-RTS gets.

Overall though, Company of Heroes 3 is a step forward for the series. The tactical map is a great addition to things and the ‘living battlefield’ works very well too.

While fully utilizing its own zest of the series, the game added somewhat sophisticated single-player content called 'Grand Campaign'. Even though there's a slight wish for easier control, it is still a quality game to enjoy.

Relic Entertainment has not disappointed with the latest installment of Company of Heroes. On the one hand, it has continued to do what lovers of the saga have enjoyed so far with the African campaign, but not satisfied with that, they bring us a second campaign that represents a twist and a very valuable addition with a huge and dynamic map with a development Totally different playable and more reminiscent of other games. Company of Heroes 3 is practically a 2 for 1 in the genre and a totally recommended purchase.

The core gameplay of Company of Heroes has never felt better, and there are hours upon hours of fun to be had simply blasting your way through other players or teaming up against AI opponents. The dual campaigns are honestly a bit of a letdown, but I’m hopeful things could be streamlined or improved with future patches and updates. The RTS genre has undoubtedly been in a slump over the last decade, but Company of Heroes 3 might be just the shot in the arm it needs to keep going.

Company of Heroes 3 is a game that wrestles with how to improve on the brilliance of its predecessors. Relic should be applauded for trying new things with the Italian campaign, even if there are a number of issues still to be ironed out. In skirmish and multiplayer, its modest but welcome improvements to a fantastic formula should give the game a long life. This sequel may not single-handedly return RTS games to prominence, but it is a gripping experience and a very welcome contribution to that effort.

Company of Heroes 3 is a solid, but flawed, new entry into the series. The multiplayer especially is still amazingly fun, but there are a plethora of balance issues that need to be solved for it to truly shine. In addition, the single player modes are in many ways a bit lacking and even at times a bit boring. It requires more refinement, but if Relic can improve the AI, and build upon their Italy campaign, then the future is bright for the Company of Heroes franchise.

All in all, it's clear that a lot of love has been poured into Company of Heroes 3, and that Relic is passionate about enhancing the core gameplay experience. Even though the game's Italy campaign can be too big for its boots at times, Company of Heroes 3 still presents an enjoyable game that successfully retains plenty of the series' classic gameplay elements. With an engaging North African mission, plenty of map variation, four factions, beautiful visuals, and an engaging setting, both veteran strategy fans and newbies are sure to find something that will appeal in Company of Heroes 3.

Company of Heroes 3 is a bit different from the previous entries in the series, but the core gameplay remains the same and the game should prove satisfactory for the series' veterans. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bugs and various technical issues.

The cover system is absolutely fantastic and just works as described. The level of destruction and interactability with the environment is something every RTS should have. It launched with two full campaigns as well, even if I much prefer the mission based one to the Total War knockoff. The biggest issue I have with the game is how unbalanced and limited the Multiplayer feels in its current state. There’s also a total lack of Multiplayer progression, which feels like a weird omission for an RTS title. Still, there’s nothing broken here that can’t be fixed, and while I’m really getting tired of playing unfinished games, at least the foundation here is incredibly solid and fun.
