Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy sequel is a superb puzzle platformer that sticks close to the series’ playbook.

Trine 5 hasn't changed all that much from its predecessors, which is more of a good thing than it is bad. At its heart, this is still a gorgeous, remarkably charming, and challenging puzzle platformer that features some of the best environment design in the business. On the other hand, combat still represents a notable low point of the experience despite efforts to tweak it, but this isn't enough of a drawback that it ruins the overall game. It goes without saying that if you liked any of the previous Trine games, you'll love what Trine 5 brings to the table-we'd argue that this offers the most polished and honed version of the series' traditional gameplay. Trine 5 is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a chill puzzle game of reasonable length, it's got a lot of heart and is definitely worth your time.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is just as beautiful as the series ever was, and the same charm is present and correct, but it's definitely beginning to wear a little thin.

If you've enjoyed the Trine series up to this point then you are in for a treat, Trine 5 is by far the best entry yet, offering puzzles that are phenomenally inventive and an utter delight to solve. If you haven't taken the plunge yet with Trine, then now is the perfect chance. If only we could ditch the combat and have twice the puzzles, then truly would Trine reach co-op puzzling perfection.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy does not propose anything truly innovative for the series, but what Frozenbyte proposes is solid enough and the small innovations are still pleasing.

Although I did experience some technical issues during cutscenes, like screen-tearing and occasional audio glitches, the rest of the journey went off without a hitch. The comedic story and dialogue are delivered with just the right amount of wit and whimsy, with zany characters that are brought to life with solid vocal performances. While the combat leaves some room for improvement, the dynamic puzzles, inventive hero skills, and visual splendor more than make up for its minor shortcomings. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Trine series or simply have a penchant for co-op puzzles and are looking for a new challenge, Trine 5 does not disappoint.

A highly competent platform puzzler that's starting to play things a little too safe, especially as it refuses to address long-standing issues like the bland combat.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is another attempt to repeat the original without developing ideas. The game is literally stuck in outdated mechanics.

Trine 5 has no reason to exist. I was shocked when the series progressed past the third entry. Still, I get excited whenever a new entry drops. I find the ten-hour campaigns a blast to play solo and even more enjoyable when friends are added to the mix. This is just a game that knows what it is and rarely tries to be anything else. I think they should dial back progression and combat and focus more on the puzzle solving mechanics as they are clearly the highlight of these games every single time. Definitely recommend this one, it was a blast to play in between so many serious open world games.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a decent culmination of the series. The game offers plenty of mind-bending puzzles and still respects its platforming roots. While the combat still feels somewhat clunky, the game's visuals and puzzle difficulty more than makeup for it. The game is much more enjoyable with friends as they can solve puzzles more inventively.

For those looking for a fun and charming puzzle platformer to play, especially with friends, Trine 5 is the perfect choice. Each hero is distinct and lovable in their own ways, the story is fun and engaging, and the puzzles are intuitive and simple, if not lacking in creativity towards the end. In a series full of positively received games and support from players that have stuck with it for years, this is yet another great entry that's sure to leave players with a smile on their face.

A "more of the same" that surely will not disappoint fans. Although a few small innovations can be glimpsed, Trine 5 does not change the cards much and offers the classic mix of platforming and physics-based environmental puzzles. Very enjoyable in single player, even more fun in co-op, but the series is beginning to feel the need for a real evolution.

The game takes the familiar formula of the series, featuring compelling puzzles, chaotic combat, and perfect presentation, and sticks by it. With a whole new campaign and a wide variety of fresh and familiar abilities, Trine 5 appeals to series fans both new and old.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a perfect continuation in the saga. A title that knows where it comes from and where it wants to go and that allows the franchise to take a step forward in the right direction. An even bigger game, longer and full of well-designed and posed challenges and puzzles.

Trine 5 offers yet more of the same, and while it's got some great puzzles and beautiful visuals, its obvious setting and overlong runtime start to grate after a while.

Trine 5 treads the same ground as its predecessors and falls prey to the same shortcomings, but it's a solid co-op puzzler that has some gorgeous visuals and is a great time.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a good contender for being the best title in this renowned series, thanks to the introduction of multi-phase boss battles and new abilities for our heroes.

It stands to reason that if you liked the previous Trine games, you'll still like this one, and that probably goes double if you've got three friends to play with. Unfortunately I don't have three friends to play with, and I can't deny the dull and frustrating experience I had with it. Between poor puzzle design and combat that doesn't seem to belong in the game, there was simply nothing in Trine 5 that didn't feel like a waste of time.
