After almost 8 years, “Everybody’s Golf” is back in a very “back to its roots” format. I, for one, can’t complain. HYDE, Inc.’s work is exceptional, bringing some refreshing new mechanics, good variety of characters and courses. And, for the first time on PC. It is a treat whether you have poured hundreds of hours on previous titles or just starting with the franchise.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots isn’t the triumphant comeback we dreamed of, but it’s the one we needed. Despite some technical hiccups and clumsy nostalgia, it brings us back to those carefree virtual greens. Hyde took on a heavy legacy and, without reinventing the wheel, honored it with care. If you grew up with Minna no Golf, you’ll find familiar comfort here—maybe a bit stale, but still satisfying. Isn’t that the charm of tradition?

If what you want is a golf game, you get yourself a golf game with Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots. And a pretty solid one, too, especially given its more modest price point. It doesn’t try to reinvent the sport, but it does offer enough fun means of play to keep you coming back, whether it be for a standard yet brisk version of this tense and rewarding sport or through the fun little gimmicks of special power-ups and massive holes to aim for. For a series that is rooted in charm and personality though, I was left hoping for a bit more out of those aspects, and it definitely could use just a bit more polish in several spots. Still, while they were annoying, most of my gripes were a cluster of minor ones rather than anything that particularly kept me from having a bunch of fun swinging clubs and saying “man I’m good at golf” every time I sank a chip-shot or long putt.  If you’ve been hungry for a classic-style sports game that still remembers how to be a video game, i.e. is interested in being fun rather than trying to simulate too many elements of realism, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots offers a fine enough place to tee off.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is a return to what has always made the series special over the years: simple but rewarding gameplay, plenty of content to unlock, and a colourful personality that makes it hard to put down. Whilst the slow progression and iffy voice work hold it back from being a flawless experience, there’s more than enough here to satisfy both newcomers and long-time fans. With strong single-player options, fun multiplayer, and a perfect balance between accessibility and depth, it’s an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a cheerful, content-rich alternative to the world of golf’s more serious offerings.

Beneath the outdated visuals, busted audio, and mechanics that seem hellbent on ruining your day, there’s still a goofy, lovable game that shines when shared with friends. It’s messy, it’s flawed, but it’s also oddly charming, as long as you snag it on sale.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots sticks with the classic three-button swing, and it’s still a blast. Wacky Golf and Boom Golf add fun chaos, while Challenge and World Tour give you plenty to do. The visuals look dated, the dialogue wears thin, and stutters show up, but none of that overshadows the solid gameplay. If you’re after lighthearted golf you can relax with, this one’s worth a look at.

For longtime fans of the franchise, there's a certain charm in revisiting familiar mechanics and reliving the relaxed atmosphere that characterized the series. However, this nostalgia is short-lived, as the game quickly demonstrates its limitations, with a repetitive structure that's uninspiring for extended play.

With some solid golfing mechanics and a content-rich offering, Hot Shots is a great addition to the Everybody’s Golf series, despite the grindy nature of how to unlock its cast and its courses. Regardless, there is a ton to do here, both in single player and with friends, both on the couch or around the world. With Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots breaking free of the PlayStation exclusivity, it allows this game to finally go head to head with Mario Golf and hopefully drive innovation to the hole, hopefully under par.

Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots is a good golf game. It’s charming, colorful, and mechanically satisfying. But it falls short of greatness, being technically unpolished, progression-heavy, and lacking the creative fire of earlier entries.

Despite a satisfying core gameplay loop and a solid entry point for newcomers, Everybody's Golf is an unpolished release plagued by technical issues, a cumbersome camera, and a lack of the signature charm and polish of past entries, making it a decent but ultimately unremarkable return for the series.

While one would hope for more innovation from a sequel eight years after the previous game, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is a solid entry and gets the franchise back on the tee after an all-too-long hiatus.

For everyone still here: Swing your clubs, try to ignore the endlessly repetitive dialogue, and have fun on the course even in bad weather. Games like this are most fun with friends anyway! Your chatter will drown out the annoying soundtrack anyway.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots features plenty of golfing goodness that will please anybody who likes to take to the green. It likely won’t make golf more appealing to anyone who doesn’t already enjoy it, but the variety of modes and playable characters and caddies make it into a title that will devour the time of any enthusiasts.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots manages to deliver a very fun and challenging experience, with lots to do and unlock in the process. As a good entry point for newcomers to the franchise and to golf, the game also manages to deliver complexity and challenges for those who seek them. It's a game that seems to translate the sport very well, but also does a good job of turning it into a video game and focusing on fun and user experience in the first place.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots offers an addictive gameplay loop with its simple three-button press system, which allows players of all skill levels to pick up and play. However, its lackluster graphics and course designs leave a lot to be desired.
