Dead or Alive 6: Last Round Reviews
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is a great fighting game wrapped up in a very bad package, with everything that made it special in 2019 still holding up today but little to justify why this re-release wasn't just another DLC pack.
Seven years of content only partially wrapped up in one snug package.
For newcomers, Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is going to be an electric experience, and it's guaranteed to be one of the best fighters this year purely by the will of its savage gameplay. For vets, however, it may indeed be DOA.
It's a great introduction if you missed out on DOA6, but returning players will have to wait for some of its more exciting additions.
Forcing fans to re-purchase characters again is just icing on the top. Sadly, I cannot recommend this package, if you already own DoA 6, just stick with that, there is little reason to upgrade to the Last Round version.
This should have been a more generous bundle, with all content included, a tag-team mode, and rollback netcode. Instead it’s a cash grab with scant new features to justify its inexplicable existence.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is a strong fighter that features a wonderful triangle system, adding an extra layer of depth to battles. Although the story mode lacks the focus and structure of its peers, it makes up for this with the wealth of content on offer.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is a step in the right direction, both to attract fans of the saga and to revive the interest of other players and attract more followers to these ranks (myself included), since with this we await the confirmed new installment in the future.

Try as I might, I can't figure out why Dead or Alive 6: Last Round exists. Upon its release in 2019, Dead or Alive 6 proved to be a perfectly soli...
Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round brings the fighter back to remind the community that there is still a third horse in the 3D fighting game race. The problem is that this return feels more like a setup for what could come next than a fully realized update for right now.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round still delivers excellent fighting mechanics and enough depth to keep players invested, but as a re-release, it struggles to fully justify itself.
Dead or Alive 6, while providing a few features a modern fighting game should have, also disappointingly leaves out many important elements, offers very little new content, and forces returning players to purchase the title again. As such, while the title is a solid new release, it's only recommended to new players who don't mind the missing features.
But for a fan of the original DEAD OR ALIVE 6, this is a good pack only if you want almost all DLC in a single place, along with the promise of new, free content down the line.
Dead or Alive 6 has a strong base that is topped with tons of horrible systems that Last Round didn’t even bother to fix

While Dead or Alive 7 was the really exciting recent news, this is the definitive version of a brilliant, funny, sexy, mechanically entertaining fighting game and I’ve loved stepping back into its ring.
Taken on its own, Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is still a solid fighting game. The adjustments to the core combat system improve accessibility without sacrificing depth for more advanced players. The roster is strong, especially now that previous DLC characters are included, but customization feels noticeably thin once DLC costumes are set aside. However, the requirement to repurchase characters like Kula and Mai, combined with the lack of meaningful presentation upgrades beyond a single reworked stage, makes this feel like a minor and somewhat underwhelming revision, especially given how long players have waited. If you're new to the series and enjoy fighting games, DoA6 is still worth a look. For anyone who has already invested significant time in the original release, there's little incentive to return unless future updates expand the lighting improvements across more stages or introduce a substantial wave of new characters.
As a longtime series fan that is desperate for Dead or Alive to get back on the right track again, it brings no joy to be criticising this disappointing re-release. Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is a game that struggles to justify its existence by including barely any of the previously released DLC by default, missing features from the original title, adding very little in the way of appealing new content, and lacking in crossplay and rollback netcode. DOA is a brilliant fighting series that deserves way better than this. DOA6LR is still a solid entry, but it is impossible to ignore the missteps taken with this edition.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round may not have been the upgrade we were hoping for. In its current state, not much has changed, aside from slightly improved graphics and faster load times. It plays the same and is still more of a casual game than a competitive fighter. It’s not a terrible game, but there’s a lot of room for needed improvement. Things could change with patch updates, but only time will tell.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round brings the fighting game to the new generation with a lackluster offering. There is no discount for owners of the base version, and few items are included in the package — with the rest requiring additional purchases — meaning even those who had already bought all the DLC will have to pay up to complete their collection. Furthermore, the novel features are minimal and not particularly significant. It is still worth a look, however, for the fast-paced, fun combat, which remains the game's greatest highlight.

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round feels like little more than a cash grab designed to sell more DLC. With no upgrade path for returning players, there is genuinely nothing here that I could recommend over DOA6. If you’re a newcomer, however, then this is still the same engaging, deep fighting game from 2019. A disappointment for long-time fans, we can only hope future updates will add new features. Preferably ones not locked behind a paywall. As it stands now, Last Round is less of an updated version of DOA6, and more of a current gen version of it. Therefore, DEAD OR ALIVE 6: Last Round receives the Thumb Culture Bronze Award.
