Scott Pilgrim EX Reviews
So, to conclude! Scott Pilgrim EX follows the beat ’em up genre without pushing its boundaries, and honestly, it doesn’t need to. Instead, it focuses on delivering exactly what fans want: fast-paced brawling, memorable characters, stylish pixel art, and a soundtrack that keeps the energy high from start to finish. There are a few rough edges, though, since some stages feel slightly longer than they need to be (especially with the quest directions being a bit ambiguous sometimes), and multiplayer combat can occasionally become visually overwhelming. But those issues rarely get in the way of the game’s core strengths. At its best, Scott Pilgrim EX captures the feeling of sitting on a couch with friends, controllers in hand, laughing at the ridiculous chaos unfolding on screen. And sometimes, that’s exactly the kind of game you need.
If you're a fan of beat 'em ups, Scott Pilgrim EX is a great addition to the genre that you shouldn't miss

Scott Pilgrim EX is great if you like old-school games, trips where you work with other people, or the weird humor of the Scott Pilgrim world. It’s a fun mix of new ideas and old memories.
Scott Pilgrim EX delivers exactly what fans expect from the franchise: chaotic action, irreverent humor, and an avalanche of pop culture references. Even with a story that feels less inspired than the original works, the game makes up for it with fun combat, accessible mechanics, and a beautifully crafted pixel art style. It may not reinvent the genre, but it still offers a solid and highly charming experience. For fans of the series (and anyone who enjoys a good beat ’em up) it’s an easy recommendation.

Scott Pilgrim EX isn't going to go down in history as the game that revolutionized the beat 'em up genre. Nor do I think that's what Tribute Games intended with this title. Ultimately, Scott Pilgrim EX is a game that seeks, first and foremost, to entertain, and it succeeds brilliantly at that. The five hours or so that the game lasts fly by, and I can honestly say I was smiling every single minute of that time, something I can say about very few games.

Scott Pilgrim EX manages to maintain the characters' charisma and the humorous writing style of the comics from beginning to end with a lighthearted and enjoyable adventure. It's clear that this new game has learned some lessons from its predecessor, such as unlocking all character combos from the start. However, certain mechanics remain, such as the individual progression system which was already poorly implemented and continues to hinder game progress and, to some extent, the player's enjoyment. In the end, it's still a decent beat 'em up action game and is best enjoyed playing with friends.

Scott Pilgrim EX doesn't try to completely reinvent the beat-'em-up genre, and that's what makes it so good. It doesn't follow the latest trends; instead, it focuses on performing the essentials really well. The result is a game that knows who it is. The fighting is fun, the graphics are bright, and the music keeps the pace up from start to finish.
I had a great time with Scott Pilgrim EX and I think fans of the series will too. Tribute Games built something with real passion here, with the combination of deep, satisfying combat and gorgeous pixel art creating a package that's easy to love.
While it could do a better job of explaining some of its mechanics, could be a little more complex in its combo-crafting, and doesn’t have the best keyboard controls, Scott Pilgrim EX is still an excellent beat-’em-up game set in the iconic comic book universe. Best enjoyed with friends, this game can still be played and appreciated solo, especially for die-hard fans of Scott Pilgrim.
Scott Pilgrim EX is an explosive beat-em-up with upto seven unique characters to go on an adventure with – either solo or with up to 4 people. This fresh take on the original franchise is a refreshing experience and is an absolute joy for any retro fan at first glance. The non-stop action and fighting will keep you hooked throughout your journey, and the OSTs are an instant hit. The story itself might be very forgettable, and is barely 5-6 hours long. At the outrageous price of ₹2,000, we highly recommend waiting for a sale.
We expected nothing less from Tribute Games, which once again manages to deliver a well-rounded and complete beat 'em up that, while not reaching the high heights of the genre, but it won't disappoint fans of the genre.
This game is a great addition to any library, even for those who may not be familiar with the property or the broader universe it comes from.
Scott Pilgrim EX offers a lot of juice, but not a lot of actual meat. With a distinct lack of content post-game, lack of replayability, and an eye watering price, it makes it a tough sell when there are much more content-rich experiences out there to choose from. Scott Pilgrim EX can be a fun game, especially when you have friends to play it with, but almost as quickly as it starts, it is over, and even the temptation of fighting more vegans can’t save it.
A neon-soaked, pixel-perfect evolution, Scott Pilgrim EX thrives on Tribute Games’ fluid combat and a stellar Anamanaguchi score. While its meta-narrative leans heavily on fanservice and the campaign is over too quickly, the surprisingly deep character variety and chaotic co-op make it a quintessential, if breezy, brawler.
Scott Pilgrim EX won't win awards for innovation, but it does have the advantage of being easy to pick up and play, and it's best enjoyed with friends. It follows the same formula as other Tribute Games beat 'em ups, but plays it safe with the characters from the Scott Pilgrim franchise; so while everyone can enjoy it, it's not exactly groundbreaking. Perhaps just dishing out punches left and right, like in the 8-bit and 16-bit eras, is sometimes all you need for a good time, without having to revolutionize the industry.

Scott Pilgrim EX is an enjoyable game. It follows the beat’em up template to a tee and doesn’t take any risks. Despite its questionable pacing and random attribute upgrades, the game is a fun and challenging with a surprisingly addictive combat system. Boss battles provide a fair challenge and this genre is always a good time with a friend. If you enjoy the genre, Scott Pilgrim EX is a decent entry but feels like it could’ve been more.
Scott Pilgrim EX is a love letter to the golden age of arcade brawlers, but it’s more than just a nostalgia trip. Beneath its pixelated charm lies a surprisingly deep combat system, clever level design, and a rewarding progression loop that keeps you coming back for more.
Scott Pilgrim EX is a modern beat 'em up that combines the humor, style, and music that made the franchise iconic with varied combat and a very fun gameplay experience. Tribute Games has created a solid game, accessible to new players and satisfying for those familiar with Scott's universe and who have already played the previous game. Without a doubt, this is an entertaining, quite complete, and very irreverent game.

Scott Pilgrim EX is one of the most fun games in the genre, and even with the aforementioned problems, I finished it three times before starting to write this review. The characters are wonderful, even though they are already well-known, the world is beautiful and crazy, combining real-world elements with elements from games and comics.

Scott Pilgrim EX truly functions as a narrative continuation of a multimedia universe, which is a bit risky to do nowadays, depending on the size of the franchise. As a beat 'em up, it delivers a colorful and energetic adventure for those who want something not too complicated to enjoy with friends, but the system of repeatedly roaming the map can make the pace of progression drag, even though the game itself is quite short.
