Scott Pilgrim EX Reviews
Tribute Games brings Scott Pilgrim back in a game featuring stunning visuals, a fantastic soundtrack, and all the magic of the comics packed into a rock-solid beat 'em up. It’s a game that puts a smile on your face, just like going to a concert by your favorite band. Scott and Sex Bob-omb hit all the right notes to earn a standing ovation.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a wonderful tribute to the beloved series. Without straying from its essence, it offers a completely different adventure from the one we know so well. As for whether it’s Tribute Games’ best fighting game, it’s hard to be disappointed. Yes, the game has a fairly short playtime—about five hours on average. And we would have liked to see more playable characters. But the price reflects all of that. And even once you’ve finished it, you’ll want to go back, whether to play with a new friend or take on the role of a new hero. Let’s not forget the return of the band Anamanaguchi, who make a sensational comeback with a soundtrack that perfectly complements our adventure. It’s great to know they’ve collaborated again for this Scott Pilgrim title.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a phenomenal, bite-sized brawler that respects the legacy of its source material while actively improving upon the mechanical flaws of its predecessor. The combat is fluid, the interconnected map is a joy to explore, and the Anamanaguchi soundtrack is predictably god-tier. While the $28.99 asking price might feel a bit steep for a 4-hour campaign, the sheer replayability offered by the diverse roster of characters and the 4-player co-op makes it a worthy addition to any Steam library. Just be sure to manually save your game before jumping into an online lobby until Tribute Games deploys a patch.
If this is the first beat’em up you’ve picked up in a while, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Although I have to admit for me, having played other beat’em ups prior to Scott Pilgrim EX, it feels like it leans on its IP a little too much and doesn’t really do anything that innovative.
Scott Pilgrim EX is a successful comeback — nostalgic yet brave — proving that the beat ’em up genre can still offer surprises. Tribute Games revitalizes a classic with new mechanics, extra characters, and an art direction that perfectly blends retro charm and modern flair. Despite some repetition in its open-world structure and a progression system that occasionally demands a bit of grinding, the experience remains fresh, fun, and crafted with clear attention to detail. For fans of the original or anyone craving a well-made dose of nostalgia, it’s a must-play.

Scott Pilgrim EX makes for one of the most purely entertaining and easily engaging games I’ve played in a while. As a fan of the source material, it’s a pitch-perfect love letter to Scott Pilgrim and the history of gaming — and it’s also just a flawless action game on top of that.
If you loved Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game, then Scott Pilgrim EX is basically the sequel you’ve been waiting fifteen years for. I don’ think it quite stands at the top of the modern retro brawler renaissance, but it’s pretty damn close.
With Scott Pilgrim EX, Tribute Games has once again created an excellent beat 'em up, but this game doesn't quite measure up to other heavyweights.

Despite its minor flaws, Scott Pilgrim EX remains an explosive experience.

So, to conclude! Scott Pilgrim EX follows the beat ’em up genre without pushing its boundaries, and honestly, it doesn’t need to. Instead, it focuses on delivering exactly what fans want: fast-paced brawling, memorable characters, stylish pixel art, and a soundtrack that keeps the energy high from start to finish. There are a few rough edges, though, since some stages feel slightly longer than they need to be (especially with the quest directions being a bit ambiguous sometimes), and multiplayer combat can occasionally become visually overwhelming. But those issues rarely get in the way of the game’s core strengths. At its best, Scott Pilgrim EX captures the feeling of sitting on a couch with friends, controllers in hand, laughing at the ridiculous chaos unfolding on screen. And sometimes, that’s exactly the kind of game you need.
If you're a fan of beat 'em ups, Scott Pilgrim EX is a great addition to the genre that you shouldn't miss

Scott Pilgrim EX is great if you like old-school games, trips where you work with other people, or the weird humor of the Scott Pilgrim world. It’s a fun mix of new ideas and old memories.
Scott Pilgrim EX delivers exactly what fans expect from the franchise: chaotic action, irreverent humor, and an avalanche of pop culture references. Even with a story that feels less inspired than the original works, the game makes up for it with fun combat, accessible mechanics, and a beautifully crafted pixel art style. It may not reinvent the genre, but it still offers a solid and highly charming experience. For fans of the series (and anyone who enjoys a good beat ’em up) it’s an easy recommendation.

Scott Pilgrim EX isn't going to go down in history as the game that revolutionized the beat 'em up genre. Nor do I think that's what Tribute Games intended with this title. Ultimately, Scott Pilgrim EX is a game that seeks, first and foremost, to entertain, and it succeeds brilliantly at that. The five hours or so that the game lasts fly by, and I can honestly say I was smiling every single minute of that time, something I can say about very few games.

Scott Pilgrim EX manages to maintain the characters' charisma and the humorous writing style of the comics from beginning to end with a lighthearted and enjoyable adventure. It's clear that this new game has learned some lessons from its predecessor, such as unlocking all character combos from the start. However, certain mechanics remain, such as the individual progression system which was already poorly implemented and continues to hinder game progress and, to some extent, the player's enjoyment. In the end, it's still a decent beat 'em up action game and is best enjoyed playing with friends.

Scott Pilgrim EX doesn't try to completely reinvent the beat-'em-up genre, and that's what makes it so good. It doesn't follow the latest trends; instead, it focuses on performing the essentials really well. The result is a game that knows who it is. The fighting is fun, the graphics are bright, and the music keeps the pace up from start to finish.
I had a great time with Scott Pilgrim EX and I think fans of the series will too. Tribute Games built something with real passion here, with the combination of deep, satisfying combat and gorgeous pixel art creating a package that's easy to love.
While it could do a better job of explaining some of its mechanics, could be a little more complex in its combo-crafting, and doesn’t have the best keyboard controls, Scott Pilgrim EX is still an excellent beat-’em-up game set in the iconic comic book universe. Best enjoyed with friends, this game can still be played and appreciated solo, especially for die-hard fans of Scott Pilgrim.
Scott Pilgrim EX is an explosive beat-em-up with upto seven unique characters to go on an adventure with – either solo or with up to 4 people. This fresh take on the original franchise is a refreshing experience and is an absolute joy for any retro fan at first glance. The non-stop action and fighting will keep you hooked throughout your journey, and the OSTs are an instant hit. The story itself might be very forgettable, and is barely 5-6 hours long. At the outrageous price of ₹2,000, we highly recommend waiting for a sale.
We expected nothing less from Tribute Games, which once again manages to deliver a well-rounded and complete beat 'em up that, while not reaching the high heights of the genre, but it won't disappoint fans of the genre.
