John Wick Hex is a no brainer. It’s a layered strategy game perfect for long sessions or short stints.
John Wick Hex was a great experience. Players looking for a straightforward third-person shooter should probably steer clear of the game. It was so much more than I expected for a game based on a movie. I decided to add the strategic element to the game rather than a straightforward third-person shooter worked out. The strategic component of it is where the game shines.
John Wick Hex is a game that lacks the flair and identity of the franchise it's trying to represent. A decent enough attempt, but a few key issues and lack of replay value diminishes it's otherwise earnest effort.
With its disposable plot and bizarre genre choice, John Wick: Hex is not for all fans of the high octane movie franchise but turn-based strategy fans will certainly get a lot out of this experience.

John Wick Hex excels at making the player think like John Wick, but fails to back it up with combat that is representative of the titular assassin.
If you’re looking for a John Wick game, John Wick Hex probably won’t satisfy you. However, if you’re happy with a tight, smart turn-based strategy game whose main character happens to look a lot like John Wick, this is exactly what you’re looking for.
undefined.John Wick Hex is an example of what can be done when someone approaches a movie-based game from an outside-the-box perspective, taking an action movie more naturally at home in that type of game genre and molding it wonderfully to a more methodical, tactical experience. Small nicks like the imperfect replay system or underwhelming story are insignificant in the face of just how satisfying it feels to embody Baba Yaga, and it's a laudable effort that I hope gets reiterated and refined in a potential sequel.

Fans of the film will certainly find things to like, but as you dig deeper into John Wick Hex, more and more of its flaws begin to surface. Bithell has always proven himself a creative game-maker, but he can't stick the landing on this one.
As a fan of the movies and a fan of creative approaches to games, I've had my eye on John Wick Hex since the day it was announced. Its bizarre approach works satisfyingly well in the context of how John Wick would think in the same situations: risk versus reward, careful observation and planning, plays and counter-plays. It is a simple game to understand yet rewarding to attempt to master. It also makes a compelling case of how great movie-inspired games can be if developers really think outside of the box.
John Wick Hex has an abundance of intuitive and original ideas, and it’s fun and engaging to play. It’s certainly worth your time if you like strategy games, and if you also happen to be a fan of the films then that’s just the icing on the cake.
If you like strategy games, then this is one you'll not want to miss. For everyone else, this could well be the one that casts a spell on you.
I thoroughly enjoyed John Wick Hex's truly clever gameplay concepts but the fashion in which it executes them could use a lot of fine-tuning in order for it to reach the heights of the top-notch film franchise that it's based on.
I'll openly admit that perhaps a degree of my disappointment with John Wick Hex is that it took a gameplay road I wouldn't have anticipated...
