Another Crab's Treasure Reviews
Another Crab's Treasure is a fun and colorful foray into the soulslike world in the shoes of a naive hermit crab who just wants his home back. The Aggro Crab development team, not satiated with proving that the genre is not just synonymous with tragic seriousness and leaden settings, goes even further by hybridizing its formula with action adventure platforming elements. The end result is definitely appreciable, although there is no shortage of ingenuities, especially in level design. Be prepared: fighting in the deep sea has never been so much fun.

For just under $30, Another Crab's Treasure is an excellent, if a bit basic, soulslike for anyone looking to get into the genre. From its beautiful environments to its cast of charming, cute characters, the game's story is clever, witty, and a biting reminder that we live in community with each other and not for ourselves.
Another Crab’s Treasure is a fresh take on genre that delivers an amusing plot, creative and deep mechanics while exhibiting a balanced challenge for new and veteran players alike. Kril’s journey is wholesome and full of charming and curious moments. Its combat is layered and full of creative shell abilities that keep the playstyle ever changing. Despite the game looking colorful and cartoony, the grunts and bosses do present a challenging experience that is a test of skill and patience. The performance is noticeably rough around the edges, but the experience is fun nonetheless. Another Crab’s Treasure is a treasure worth digging for indeed. I recommend this to those looking for a new challenge and those who have yet to experience a ‘soulslike.’
Another Crab's Treasure may not have the finesse of a premium lobster dish, but it's still a very enjoyable game to play through. That's why the term "Surimi Souls" is packed with flavor. Yes, Aggro Crab's action game may not be the most beautiful crustacean out there, and it has its fair share of whining and balance issues, but it still carries the spirit of an apex predator. It manages to create an intriguing world with strong Soulslike design and combat, while also offering enough unique angles to avoid being labeled as just another ordinary copy. Add to that an adventurous yet humorous narrative, and voilà: Aggro Crab manages to thrive in this daring ecosystem. Another Crab's Treasure deserves a spot among Soulslikes that are worth your time and effort.

Another Crab’s Treasure delivered exactly what I expected from it: a much more inclusive version of the typical soulslike when it comes to difficulty. Everything (or almost everything) in Kril's journey exhudes care: characters, gameplay, battle, exploration, main mechanics.... There are few elements that leave something to desire, no matter how small, and, as I mentioned in the previous topic, they hardly interfere in the final result - the exception is the game's performance on Switch's portable mode, which, as I said, I recommend avoiding.

Another Crab’s Treasure doesn’t reinvent the Soulslike wheel by any means. It does, however, establish some unique ideas. Not only does the shell system tie in well with the game’s unique aquatic setting, but it also adds a good amount of flexibility for players to overcome obstacles.
In a world absolutely oversaturated with Soulslikes at the moment, it’s hard to say that Another Crab’s Treasure will even make a splash. While it’s cute, and has the difficulty levels to fit the genre, the actual controls don’t feel particularly cooperative, and I found when I was trying to dodge attacks, I would very rarely move the way I feel like I should. Unlike other games in the genre, Another Crab’s Treasure starts to look bland very quickly.
As a fan of the "Souls" series, you always want new titles in this area and even if, as already mentioned at the beginning, "Soulslikes" are now a dime a dozen, it is still hard to find a really good representative of this genre. "Another Crab's Treasure" has established itself on the good side of these games for me personally. Here and there there is still a bit of fine-tuning, especially in the area of performance, music and the sometimes somewhat questionable hitbox, but after the first entry hurdle the ambition and the well-known Souls addiction quickly returned. The colorful and cartoonish world offers a desirable change in the otherwise very dark genre of "Soulslike".

While the Souls-like genre, epitomized by titles such as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, is renowned for its punishing difficulty and dark atmosphere, it’s not a style that resonates with everyone such as myself. However, Another Crab’s Treasure has managed to take the essence of what makes these games compelling—the intricate combat, the deep lore, and the rewarding sense of accomplishment—and transplant it into a world that’s both more inviting and less stressful. The game’s charming aesthetics, coupled with its environmental storytelling, create an experience that’s engaging without being overwhelming, for someone who typically shies away from the Souls-like genre.
Although its combat leaves a bit to be desired, “Another Crab’s Treasure” world, characters and very funny storytelling and puns more than make up for it. It’s absolutely time for crab and you’re going to have a great time with it.

Another Crab’s Treasure has some bugs and some issues, it has some platforming challenges I prefer to never do again if I can help it, but overall, it’s a wonderful game. There is a lot of humor, a lot of beauty, and a wonderful story and music in this title (oh man, this review is already over 2,000 words, and I didn’t even talk about how good the story and music were! I have so much more I could say about this game). It’s a triumph of a Souls-like that is welcoming, accessible, and funny. I love this game more than I can say, and I think it’s art. But sadly, I can’t give it a very good rating based on the version I played. I can say that I recommend this game to everyone who has ever wanted to play a Souls-like but couldn’t get through it. I recommend this to everyone who ever loved absurdist SpongeBob SquarePants humor. I recommend this to anyone who loves Little Mermaid. If you want to laugh, cry, and have a really good time, pick up Another Crab’s Treasure. But if you have a choice, don’t pick it up on the Nintendo Switch.
Even if you hate the genre, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy Another Crab’s Treasure thanks to its bevvy of accessibility features.
Another Crab’s Treasure is a pleasant surprise in a game style that may be a little overused nowadays. The title stands out for its dynamic battles, well-planned level design and a focus on platforming, besides a story that, while not deep, is compelling due to its characters. Accessibility choices expand the title's potential beyond the audience already familiar with From Software's formula and may fuel discussions about an "easy mode" in this kind of game. Even with technical issues, I already consider it one of the best of the year.

Another Crab’s Treasure is a wonderful souls-like adventure that offers a unique and charming take on the genre with its creative shell-based action. There’s plenty of depth to be found in its mechanics that encourages player experimentation, whilst the boss encounters are some of the best that I’ve seen from a non-From Software release. It looks delightful too, whilst the accessibility options make it the perfect title to introduce players to the typically brutal nature of a souls-like release.
If you're intrigued by the idea of a crab scouring the ocean for makeshift armor while battling existential threats, then "Another Crab's Treasure" is definitely worth a dive.
