With higher-quality songs, familiar yet flexible stage formats, and highly replayable bonus modes, it brought back memories of grinding for medals on the Nintendo DS and Wii. For rhythm game fans, it is undoubtedly the most fitting first-party send-off for the Nintendo Switch generation.

Overall, Rhythm Heaven Groove is exactly what I hoped it would be. It focuses on what has always made Rhythm Heaven special. It's easy to learn, surprisingly challenging to master, packed with creative ideas, and filled with enough personality to keep you smiling from beginning to end. While its repetitive structure means it isn't always a game you'll play for hours at a time, it's one that's incredibly easy to return to whenever you're looking for a few minutes of fun. Whether you're a longtime fan or someone discovering the series for the first time, this is an easy recommendation for Nintendo Switch owners of all ages. If you enjoy rhythm games and love chasing perfect performances, there's plenty here to keep you coming back for one more song. Beep!
Rhythm Heaven Groove is a triumphant return from a decade-and-a-half hibernation. While it struggles to abandon some of the archaic visual design the series has grown attached to, the juiced-up soundtrack, consistently strong rhythm games, and wonderfully intriguing Beatspell RPG have me believing that this series has the legs to carry the music into the modern age.
Rhythm Heaven Groove is a highly distinctive rhythm game that delights with its ideas, music and absurd humour, but doesn’t set out to appeal to everyone. Its simple controls conceal a challenging experience that demands full concentration, a sense of rhythm and a constant drive to improve your scores. Fans of the series and of Nintendo’s more unconventional titles will have a brilliant time, whilst others may lose interest after just a few minutes.

The WarioWare of rhythm games, Rhythm Paradise Groove offers up a series of joyful minigames that all test your ability to keep a rhythm. It's challenging, but the nature of the minigames means it's very easy to keep trying until practice makes perfect.
There’s nothing quite like it when it comes to charm and inventiveness making this a default buy even if not every game hits.

Although I do think the first minigames in “Rhythm Heaven Groove” are a bit harder than they should be for a franchise that’s been dormant for so long, the complete package still shows why it’s still relevant after all this time. It’s filled with humor, charm, and challenge for those who seek those “perfect” in every minigame and or at the very least a gold medal.

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t mind randomly playing a video game with a friend, family member, or loved one present, they probably already know that you’re someone into the medium and will likely not bother you for the rest of the session. Every once in a while, though, there’s a game that’ll get the attention of such people, likely to a point where they’ll want to join you or at least ask, “What are you playing?” That’s one of the best feelings in the world, and it’s a feat that I think Rhythm Heaven Groove accomplishes whenever it’s played around people. It’s a big part of what makes the series great.
Rhythm Paradise Groove returns without reinventing its formula, and proves it still has plenty to say. The result is a rich, immediate experience that challenges even players who think they already have rhythm in their blood.

Rhythm Paradise Groove is a joyful and wonderfully creative return for the cult rhythm series, packed with imaginative minigames, excellent music, charming visuals, tougher remixed challenges, and a fun local multiplayer mode. A handful of minigames may not click with everyone, but the overwhelming majority are addictive, rewarding, and an absolute delight to master.
