If you go into Stories expecting a true successor to previous Monster Hunter games, it may not impress. However, it’s a solid RPG with a younger demographic in mind. This certainly isn’t to say that an older fan won’t enjoy its charming story or gorgeous graphics, but it’s obviously intended as an introduction to the wider Monster Hunter world.
Monster Hunter Stories is that rare and magical opportunity to befriend your favorite monster and ride it into battle.
Whether you enjoy raising monsters, slaying them, or adventuring across vast lands with your pals, you'll find something to hold your attention in this game, and who knows? You may even come to find yourself loving every little bit of this adventure.
You are asked to make a boring leap of faith in the hopes of finding rewards. Everything else about the game works. Exploring the world hasn't been better than this and the style just pops on the Nintendo 3DS. Newcomers and veterans alike will find a lot to love, but also need to go in with lowered expectations about the combat.
The Monster Hunter franchise has a rich and varied universe but outside of a handful of spin-offs; its games have always been limited to their very specific formula. That's a doubled-edged sword, as the fans don't want big changes but those who don't enjoy the series' core mechanics are missing out on a fantastic universe filled with some amazing monster designs and the fabulous Felynes. Monster Hunter Stories breaks the mold and delivers an experience that shows that universe is just waiting for more innovative ideas. Like Final Fantasy Tactics and Dragon Quest Builders, Monster Hunter Stories delivers a wholly new experience that is utterly addictive and absolutely superb. If you enjoy Pokémon, give this a chance!
This iteration of Monster Hunter Stories received a lovely visual upgrade and it delivers a fun-filled and emotional story with supremely rewarding monster hunting at the forefront. I'm very happy that we can now play it on modern consoles. 🐱

The Monster Hunter Stories remaster is a very faithful rendition of the original game. It adds a fresh coat of paint, better performance and English and Japanese voice acting. With the core experience still very much intact, this could well be the definitive way to experience Monster Hunter Stories going forward.

If you’re a fan of Monster Hunter or just a fan of turn-based RPGs, you’re going to love the game a lot. However, it’s clear that Monster Hunter Stories offers a different experience, focusing more on narrative and strategic planning rather than the intense, high-stakes hunts that define the main series. While it might not reach the same level of complexity or challenge as the main games, it stands out as a delightful and engaging spin-off that enriches the Monster Hunter universe.

Monster Hunter Stories is not a complex or demanding game, far from being as challenging as its mainline counterparts. If you want to dive deep into the franchise’s actually detailed and amazing lore, with a much simpler and easygoing gameplay loop, this game is for you. It featured some likeable characters, colorful visuals, Pokémon-esque monster collecting, a combat system that did not get on my nerves.
Monster Hunter Stories once offered us one of the most endearing and original spin offs that we could enjoy among many of the different existing franchises, just as it did with other installments such as Dragon Quest Monsters, Portal or Mario Kart, only now tuned, adapted and with extra dressings for the new generation. In this way, Monster Hunter Stories offers us its most definitive version, including all the updates that have been available so far, such as the monsters Teostra, Kushala Daora and Rajang or the content included post launch such as the tower of deception and the new ones. customization pieces for our rider or feline companion. An adventure that, although it may be very simple with a fairly predictable story full of JRPG clichés, becomes very enjoyable, fun and accessible to play for anyone who loves JRPGs and wants to poke their nose into the Monster universe. Hunter from whom you will learn a lot thanks to how well he captures its essence and universe during the almost 40 hours that it can take us to finish its main campaign.

Monster Hunter Stories is a radical departure from the main series, offering a more laid-back experience. This remaster of the classic Nintendo DS game has made its way to consoles and PCs with few issues.
Monster Hunter Stories is a simple JRPG and not too deep in its mechanics or story, although it is quite entertaining, which fans of the Monster Hunter franchise will especially like. This remastering of the original Nintendo 3DS game comes to us at the same time as its second installment to several current systems. We will have new features and more content that make this version quite appealing both for the new user and for those who already know the original game, so it is worth giving this nice spin-off of Monster Hunter a chance.

The Monster Hunter Stories Collection for PlayStation delivers around 70 to 80 hours of pleasant gameplay with fine round-based combat and a motivating character system. The remastered version of part 1 increases the experience by some nice visual improvements and benefits a lot from the totally new voiceover. It’s not on eye level with current productions, but that does not affect the atmosphere too much. The second part Wings of Ruin is still the better game with a richer world and a more complex combat system. But if you already played it on a PC or Switch, you do not experience much new. In total, the Monster Hunter Stories Collection is a rich compilation of two games, you should play if you like the Monster Hunter series and round based combat.
