Resident Evil Village is an essential horror experience that shows off what Capcom is capable of when it doesn’t compromise its vision in any way. The developer uses subgenres like puzzle pieces, clicking them into place on a grid to reveal the bigger picture: a survival horror collage, realised with remarkable production values and a deep love for its extensive roots. Resident Evil Village will be held high by Lady Dimitrescu and her peers for years to come, to rest head and shoulders above its genre rivals.

RE: Village is an almost-perfect mix of the franchises' inspirations, with some of the most eccentric and exciting villains the series has seen in years.

Resident Evil Village is a reference to the horror genre and an important milestone for the series in its 25th anniversary celebrations. Capcom first-person gameplay remains a wise decision, bringing gameplay and storytelling together in an excellent way. The main inspiration is the older brother, Resident Evil 4, with mechanics, characters and quality that make Village a kind of spiritual successor to one of the most revered games in the franchise. A must-have title for Resident Evil fans.

"Village" is a rollercoaster rushing through a history of contemporary horror. And there's no stoping it. With its gorgeous landscapes, complex level design, visceral combat and constant thrills (cheap and sophisticated alike) it's a true testament to "Resident Evil" glory.

Capcom gives us the definitive Resident Evil to celebrate the saga's 25th anniversary. Not for being the best, not for being the most faithful to the roots, not for being the one that will cause the greatest impact in the industry and probably not for being the one that will occupy the most special place in the hearts of the players. , but yes for being a hilarious, varied, intense title, with a great sense of rhythm and, most important of all, for being the Resident Evil that has finally been able to combine in a balanced and harmonious way all the aspects that it saga has explored throughout its history.

Resident Evil Village is like a reunion of all the previous games in the series. It takes what worked and gives it to fans in small bites across this horrifying adventure. Tension is created in multiple ways that force you to adjust on the fly, but as scary as it, the thought that answers to all your questions lie beyond the next door will keep you going. Resident Evil Village isn’t having an identity crisis. It’s fully aware of what it’s doing. Somehow, the blending of these systems produces the most entertaining nightmare you’ve ever had.

Resident Evil Village doesn’t reach the dizzying heights of my personal favourite game in the franchise, Resident Evil 2 Remake. It does, however, provide one of the best Action Horror gameplay experiences out there. Whilst it may seem like a successor to RE4, there’s a lot of the other games in here as well, making it one of the most complete Resident Evil experiences to date.

Resident Evil Village is a worthwhile addition to Capcom’s survival horror franchise. It’s an explosive and brutal thrill ride that will surely please fans of Resident Evil 4 or those who enjoyed Resident Evil 7 but felt it could use a bit more action. While I don’t think I’d call it my personal favorite entry in the series (that honor goes to Resident Evil 2), I feel Capcom has done an admirable job of combining the strengths of two of the franchise’s most memorable titles to create something new and exciting. If you’re a fan of the series, then this is one game that absolutely deserves a spot in your PS5 library.

The previous rendition of RE was a spicy mix of horror reboot. This time, they’ve watered down the spice a tiny bit and engineered some ‘action’ into the mix. The end result was that those who weren’t courageous enough to face the horror genre, was now able to experience the latest iteration of Resident Evil and get a taste of what it has to offer. The puzzle and exploration is much more rewarding and less of a headache this time around. With plenty of bonus contents to dig up including the past history of ‘The Baker Incident Report’, If you’re a fan of Resident Evil, you won’t be disappointed.

Resident Evil Village sticks to the series roots and hooks while providing a refined and fun spin to survival horror. It is also an incredibly polished title, visually and gameplay-wise. With that said, I advise turning off camera acceleration and adjusting camera speed to get a more smoother experience. I do wish Capcom would let us adjust the FOV as well for little more spatial awareness. The game’s initial hours took a bit to get settled in. It also did not make me substantially like Ethan any more than I did in RE7. However, my complaints do not outweigh the full, unforgettable experience Village gave me. I am more excited than I have ever been for the story direction. Where characters are left off and how that will carry over into a not yet announced Resident Evil 9 has me invested. Resident Evil Village is sitting pretty as one of the best games in the series and of 2021. It is absolutely a different experience than the intimacy of RE7. But it is all for the better since that DNA is not lost, but added to.

The eighth Resident Evil game tried something that may seem like a really bad idea. In the end, though, not everything is as black and white and the developers managed to deal with the painful and challenging path before them. Resident Evil Village can not only count itself as one of the best games of the year, but also as one of the best games of the series.

Overall, Resident Evil Village is a fantastic entry in this beloved series. While the game leans in on the monster mash theme, it creates a big experience that delivers plenty of thrills. There’s tons of scares, action, insanity, and multiple surprises in store for fans.

Resident Evil Village is finally here in the series’ 8th incarnation. The formula has matured since the days of tank controls. Yet survival horror, is a genre that was defined by Capcom 25 years ago and refined ever since, offering an experience imitated by many and replicated by none.
