I finished D-topia in about 4–5 hours, but it has stayed on my mind ever since. Apparently there's also a separate "good ending," and while my ending wasn't bad at all, I'm tempted to play through it again just to see what changes.

There's certainly an audience for D-topia. Players looking for accessible puzzling and an optimistic slice of speculative science fiction will find something to enjoy. But for a narrative so concerned with ethical questions, it rarely asks players to grapple with difficult choices. It's a pleasant and thoughtful game, just not quite as thought-provoking as it clearly aims to be.
Celestial Return is a worthy successor for Disco Elysium, and it'll be of particular interest if you like Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
While it's not a utopian video game, lacking that touch of genius that only a few achieve, D-Topia will appeal to those looking for something lighthearted yet still memorable . Let's just say it might make you happy.

Like Stardew Valley as managed by George Orwell, D-Topia is an exploration of some complex questions in the disguise of a cozy sim, which is not something you come across every day.

It's like THX 1138 with Social Links. There's a little Gattaca and Wall-E in this too, but with puzzles inspired by The Witness. If any of this sounds appealing, then expect to enjoy time helping people out in D-topia.

While interactions with supporting characters are well-crafted and foster a genuine sense of attachment, the city itself remains static regardless of Shiro’s actions during the campaign—even after seemingly drastic events occur. Ultimately, what could have been a thought-provoking, philosophical exploration of life in a “perfect society”—and whether such a thing truly exists—risks feeling banal, as hardly anything seems to leave a lasting mark or trigger meaningful consequences, whether positive or negative.

The final message of D-topia isn't as clear as a chalk line on a blackboard, but rather that of a cloud, fluid, in motion, and subject to an interpretation that cannot escape the imaginary chain that binds it to the person we are, emotionally and intellectually. From now until the next inevitable roundup of titles (September I'm Not Afraid of You), I'll take with me something from D-topia that I never expected, from the first impression I had: a cohesion and coherence that are difficult to replicate in a landscape too fearful of ludonarrative dissonance to bother aiming for a product in which every aspect perpetuates the same message, the same theme.

In conclusion, this title is recommended for fans of more narrative-driven genres and for anyone who wants to “unwind” for a few hours from reality and immerse themselves in a small world that seems simpler and more peaceful.

If you love games that focus on characters with puzzles mixed then I think you will enjoy your time in this cozy world. Just don’t expect to be wowed by any revolutionary game mechanics cause you are not finding them here.
D-topia won’t tax your brain muscles as much as some would like, so if you’re expecting some real brain twisters, you’ll be disappointed. But for others this will be a breath of fresh air with its cosy, friendly approach to logic puzzles, alongside its intriguing narrative and fun friendship mechanic.
