I’m looking forward to seeing the story link system further developed in a more refined experience.
Tides of Tomorrow boasts an interesting world, and has great foundational ideas, particularly with its approach to asynchronous multiplayer. However, it feels more inconsequential and disjointed than it should, and as a result doesn't fulfill its potential.
The numerous choices rarely carry the weight they should, and the watered-down writing style ends up excessively muting them. Tides of Tomorrow hints at something enormous beneath the surface, without ever truly bringing it to the surface.

Following up on the success of Road 96, developer DigixArt is making waves once again by shaking up the narrative genre with their latest release, Tides of Tomorrow. With an innovative mechanic to help push the story forward, its asynchronous multiplayer components make the overall experience one they won't have to undertake alone.
Tides of Tomorrow is a story for our times, opening with you awakening in a sea of plastic waste, drowning in bottles, tubs, and other discarded detri...
Much like Road 96 though, the true joy of Tides of Tomorrow comes from its cast of recurring characters — survivors, pirates, and those of faith who make the world around them feel fully fleshed out. That’s enough to balance out some rather lacklustre stealth bits that get in the way of what’s next.
Tides of Tomorrow takes an engaging story and utilizes an unbelievably dynamic way of telling it that combines community with player choice for an experience like no other.
Mixing together adventure, stealth and a gripping narrative makes Tides of Tomorrow a very intriguing prospect indeed. It's just a shame that its novel 'online story-link' mechanic isn't as enjoyable as it should be, leaving you feeling like you're existing in someone else's shadow rather than carving out your own path through this unique world.
A strong narrative-driven experience that stands out for its meaningful choices and emotional storytelling. Tides of Tomorrow delivers a thoughtful, often impactful journey with clear real-world parallels, making it more ambitious than many similar titles on the market. Despite a few minor flaws, it remains a highly recommended experience for fans of choice-driven adventures.

Tides of Tomorrow is gorgeously crafted and features a brilliant take on asynchronous multiplayer. It's a shame that player agency is surprisingly shallow and limited, and the game is too long to entice multiple playthroughs and experimentation.

The new and innovative Multiplayer story-link concept is a great addition to the world of narrative games.

Tides of Tomorrow is a game that gets a lot right, though it doesn’t quite reach the level of excellence. Its story is touching, its world is well-crafted, and its art direction is particularly inspired. The Story-Link system brings a genuine sense of originality, even if it shows its limitations over time, and the gameplay loop could have used a bit more variety. The game’s length is well-balanced, and the experience remains enjoyable from start to finish, but certain decisions prevent it from taking things to the next level—particularly in terms of replayability and the depth of certain systems. Nevertheless, this is a solid, sincere offering that is clearly worth checking out for fans of narrative-driven games.

Tides of Tomorrow is a very unique narrative-driven title that could start a whole new genre. We've seen shared choices through various games, such as showing the percentage certain players made with said choices, but never to the extent of living in the choices made by other players. To that end, Tides of Tomorrow gives us a unique thread to pull on, and while it may unravel one of several different ways, it still provides a compelling reason to not only enjoy the story once, but to dive back in and see it from a totally different perspective.
Developer DigixArt went bold and unique with Tides of Tomorrow and it has paid off. With characters you can get heavily invested in, a surprisingly deep story and a gorgeous world, there is a lot to like here.

In terms of gameplay, it’s essentially a glorified walking simulator, but thanks to its story-link mechanic and a gripping, well-written narrative, Tides of Tomorrow still carries enough weight. We would have liked to see more puzzles and a bit more freedom in exploration, but the focus on moral and ethical choices—and their consequences—works well nonetheless and also adds replay value. Fans of narrative-driven games, especially those who appreciate an environmental theme, can definitely be recommended Tides of Tomorrow.

Tides of Tomorrow does a lot of really cool things, and the narrative is the star of the show. I have to admit, in the early hours I wasn’t massively engaged, but by the mid-way point I began to care for several of the main characters, and did want to see just what happens to this broken world, and whether it can be saved.
Despite a clever central mechanic that ties into its core message, Tides of Tomorrow is let down by heavy-handed storytelling, simplistic mechanics and a regular loss of immersion.
