Undoubtedly the most well-crafted “tough Zelda” game out there, with tons to discover and learn (usually the hard way)

Tunic has a few things that are just a bit to vague or cryptic and a couple of other small gripes. Despite that, Tunic is a great game and absolutely worth your time!

It is almost like you come for the cute little fox and stay for everything else. TUNIC is a really well-done game. The fact that it was critically acclaimed the moment it came out shows how much of a passion project it is. TUNIC is a dainty mix of nostalgia and current trends. There is really not much you can dislike in this game. Maybe the story- But then again, the story is not the selling point. TUNIC stands out with its gameplay alone.

Tunic is intuitive gameplay at its finest, requiring you to figure things out as you go. You’ll either sink, or you’ll swim, and though I sank far more often than I swam, I still couldn’t get enough of this game. If you need a little Dark Souls with your Zelda, this is one of those games that you don’t want to pass up.

It's just a pity that the story tends to fade into the background over long stretches and is ultimately too much linked to the intensive study of the manual and the analysis of the environment. If you like exactly this kind of storytelling, you will also be fascinated by it.

If you’re a fan of exploration and puzzle-based adventure games, then playing Tunic is a no-brainer. While it does have elements of Souls games, it has more elements from The Legend of Zelda series and lots of elements from other genres as well. What makes Tunic unique is the way it gives the player items and abilities, without fully explaining them at first, and allowing the player to experiment while exploring its world. Retro players who love cryptic NES titles of yesteryear take note, this might be a GOTY contender for you.

Tunic is just as much of a charming and creative game as it is difficult and frustrating. It's easy to imagine its cute visuals and similarities to Zelda will attract a public who wouldn't be inclined to explore everything it has to offer. This is an adventure that demands sharp reflexes and a good dose of patience, masking a tough and tiresome experience with its adorable shell. The performance on Switch could have been better but it will hardly cause more players to abandon it as much as the title's high challenge.

A beguilingly beautiful and practically pitch-perfect mixture of Legend of Zelda and Dark Souls mechanics, Tunic is a boundlessly charming and highly challenging adventure that gets so much right that it borders on ridiculousness.

We won't spoil what happens, but Tunic slowly peels back layers right to the very end. It's a cohesive, satisfying game that scratches an old school action-adventure itch, going above and beyond with subversive, cerebral puzzles. It maybe goes on a touch longer than it needs to, but this little gem of a game punches above its weight.

Tunic on PS5 is fantastic. Charming level design, creative puzzles, surprising challenges, along with a lush world to explore and decipher all merge to create one of the best adventure games in recent memory. There's so much to uncover, including multiple endings, optional side quests, and collectible trophies, along with a New Game + mode that adds further challenges, that most players will find countless hours of entertainment.

If the difficulty proves too much for you, the accessibility options are a godsend and there's no shame in using them. You may have to get out your actual notepad to keep track of the hints, puzzles, and clues you find along the way, but if you follow that journey to the very end you are rewarded with a game unlike any other. Tunic is a modern masterpiece and its mysteries, secrets, and puzzles will stay with you for a long time after the credits roll.

You'd be wrong to assume the cute fox-like protagonist and colourful world implies Tunic is a relaxing little adventure for all ages – it's anything but. Tunic requires a lot of intuitive thinking and patience to navigate its beautiful world with its brilliant in-game instruction manual. Coupled with an unforgiving combat system that punishes impatience and rewards measured study of opponents, Tunic is a game designed for those versed in old-school adventuring and experienced in difficult, sometimes frustrating swordplay. Given all this and its evident Hylian inspirations, and even with some unfortunate performance hitches and obvious downgrades from the versions on other platforms, Tunic feels right at home on a Nintendo console and we recommend it as a creative and concise adventure that both draws and expands upon some prestigious inspirations.

The fact that this charming game was created by a single person is astounding. Tunic delightfully combines what we loved about games from our childhood with modern day influences. With tons of challenging enemies to encounter, cryptic puzzles to solve, and secrets to uncover, this game will ensure you won't regret embarking on the adventure of this cute little fox. There's simply no better way to play this game than on the PlayStation 5, with the intuitive Game Help feature and flawless performance.
